About Joe Napiltonia
In 1990, Joe Napiltonia enlisted in the United States Navy, serving six years as a Navy SEAL. While serving as a SEAL, Mr. Napiltonia completed various foreign policy assignments around the world. In 1993, for example, he served with distinction in Mogadishu, Somalia and was awarded the Combat Action Ribbon and received a commendation from the Secretary of the Navy. He is also a graduate of the U.S. Navy’s prestigious Basic Underwater Demolition/SEAL School (Class 176) and the U.S. Army’s Airborne and Jumpmaster Schools.
Upon his honorable discharge from the Navy, Mr. Napiltonia attended Georgetown University where he received his B.A in 2002. He earned his J.D. from the University of Florida Levin College of Law in 2005, where he served as the president of the law school’s trial lawyers association.
After graduating from law school, Mr. Napiltonia volunteered to deploy to Afghanistan as a security contractor. While there he worked with other former members of the Special Operations Community as a security advisor and instructor in support of the U.S. Department of State’s mission in the region.
Mr. Napiltonia now practices law full time with Bednarz & Bednarz in Nashville, Tennessee representing injured victims in personal injury, wrongful death, medical malpractice, products liability, workers’ compensation, and complex civil litigation.
In addition to practicing law, Mr. Napiltonia has lobbied the Tennessee legislature on behalf of injury victims. In 2009, when several members of the Tennessee legislature introduced a bill seeking to protect negligent nursing homes in Tennessee, Mr. Napiltonia, along with other members of the Tennessee Association for Justice (TAJ), successfully lobbied against it. He has also lobbied to thwart dangerous legislation aimed at protecting companies and landowners who rent ATVs to Tennesseans, including children.
As a Navy SEAL, Mr. Napiltonia’s young adulthood was forged by adversity. He learned how to fight—and win! He takes that same ethos into his practice of law. Mr. Napiltonia has dedicated his life to service and takes great pride in protecting Tennesseans against greedy insurance companies and unscrupulous corporations.
